Join educators from across the region on 23rd March 2027 for a day of learning, collaboration and creativity at the Berkshire Music Hub Schools Conference 2027.

Focusing on belonging through music and the opportunities and challenges of the new National Curriculum for Music, the conference offers practical workshops, expert-led forums and interactive discussions for professionals working in Early Years, Primary, Secondary and Inclusion settings. 

Led by national organisations, Berkshire Music Trust partners and our team of music education specialists, sessions will provide fresh ideas, best practice and strategies for inclusive, high-quality music education. 

New for 2027! – Early Years Stream 

Join a dedicated strand celebrating the power of music in the earliest stages of life. From playful music-making and child development to family engagement and inclusive practice, this stream brings together experts and practitioners to share ideas, experiences and inspiration. Discover how music can nurture confidence, communication, connection and joy in young children, while supporting key areas of development including language acquisition, early literacy, emotional regulation, social skills, motor coordination and cognitive growth. 

Perfect for EYFS leads, EYFS teachers, nursery practitioners and music leaders.

Held at The Abbey School, Reading, the conference includes lunch and refreshments, with plenty of opportunities to network and share ideas.

We are delighted to confirm that our keynote speaker will be:

Simon Toyne 

Since 2015, Simon has been Executive Director of Music of the David Ross Education Trust, where he is responsible for the development of a music programme for over 13,000 children across 34 state primary and secondary schools in the East Midlands. 

His work at DRET has included the award-winning Singing Schools programme for primary schools, developing a Trust-wide primary and secondary music curriculum, fostering a network of partner organisations, including Gabrieli Roar, Nevill Holt Opera, Sing Up, the Royal Opera House and the Voices Foundation, creating a team of professional musicians in residence, establishing a talent development programme. 

Simon is responsible for the overall drafting of the new National Curriculum for Music, KS1-3.
