Space to Thrive is our vibrant and exciting community music centre in Maidenhead. Led by the community, for the community, Space to Thrive breaks down barriers to access and opens up music making for everyone! We have a rolling schedule of programmes running at the centre, and there genuinely is something for everyone from early years to older adults, and from free youth sessions to intergenerational projects for the whole family.

    Youth Projects

    Whether it’s our regular SyncQuest DJing projects, our weekly FREE Chill Jam youth club sessions, or our upcoming rock band experience and digital music courses, there is something for everyone. Our music centre is jointly run by our youth leaders – young people just like you who love music and are now getting paid work experience with us to co-lead our programmes.   • Early Years and Children

    Every Saturday during term time, we offer Mini Maestros, Recorder Rookies, Let’s Play Orchestra, Initial Orchestra and one-to-one instrumental tuition.

     

    Mini Maestros are fun, lively music classes for children aged 0–7, led by professional musicians. Sessions are engaging, well-paced and packed with singing, dancing and hands-on experiences with real musical instruments.

     

    Let’s Play Orchestra is the perfect first ensemble for children who can play around five notes on a string, brass or woodwind instrument, giving them the chance to experience the joy of making music with others. Initial Orchestra is the next step for young musicians working at around Grades 1–3.Recorder Rookies is a FREE class for children attending our Year 1 or Year 2 Mini Maestros sessions and is designed for those who have never played the recorder before.

    Adults, Community and SEND

    Space to Thrive is truly a place for EVERYONE to come and enjoy music making! Our current programmes include our Community Drumming Workshop every Saturday for the whole family to come and play together, monthly Sing for Joy dementia-friendly singalongs, and also our wonderful Soundabout Associate Choir for children and young people with SEND to make music together either in-person or online. We are always exploring more provision for our community as well, so please feel free to get in touch with your suggestions by emailing us.
