Lorna Ridley
Courthouse Junior School, Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead
Lorna is music lead at a large junior school in Maidenhead, teaching class music across the school. She took on the role as music lead as she felt she could help the school provide so much more musically for their children. Lorna has written and implemented a bespoke curriculum for Courthouse Junior, and worked to increase her extra curricula offering, establishing instrumental clubs and growing the school choir to over 80 children. She has lots of experience in putting on shows across KS2 and whole class instrument teaching. Lorna has worked with HLTAs and trainee teachers, giving them ideas and confidence to enable them to lead musical activities, and has led a music curriculum day for KS1/KS2 music leads and provided ad hoc support to music leads in local schools.
Academically, Lorna’s background is not music but as a keen amateur musician, she is passionate about ensuring that all children have access to high quality music education and experiences.
Lorna is happy to support junior/primary schools looking to improve their music offering. She can assist with creating a music curriculum, writing a music development plan or establishing music clubs. She can also provide support to class teachers who are not confident teaching music and share experience and ideas for performances across KS2 and whole class instrument teaching for non-specialist teachers.
