Seann has a background in choral singing, opera, and musical theatre, with extensive experience teaching string instruments. He holds a BA in Music and Theatre Studies and an MA in Music Education and Psychology. His passion lies in choral and ensemble teaching, and he is a Kodaly music educator. As an Apple Distinguished Teacher, Seann integrates technology into music pedagogy and works in an Apple Distinguished School, enhancing music education through digital tools.

 

Seann has extensive experience in coaching and mentoring, supporting PGCE students, unqualified teachers, and Early Career Teachers (ECTs). As a Lead Facilitator on the ECT framework and training development, he has mentored colleagues at various career stages and led individual and departmental coaching initiatives. In his current role, he develops coaching programs to enhance teaching pedagogy, establishing learning communities and coaching partnerships to support staff development. Seann specialises in pedagogical coaching and participated in the Teacher Development Trust’s Pedagogical Coaching Program.  He provides coaching for music teachers in pedagogy, including Kodaly, differentiation, adaptive teaching, and scaffolding musical learning. He  supports classroom management, helping teachers engage students effectively in both practical and theoretical lessons. He coaches in practical musicianship, ensemble direction, and conducting, including strategies for leading choirs, orchestras, and whole-class instrumental teaching. He specialises in technology integration, guiding teachers on using iPads, DAWs, and digital tools for composition, assessment, and music production. Additionally, he can provide coaching in composition, GCSE/A-Level exam preparation, teaching set works, and assessment for learning. Beyond the classroom, Seann supports teachers in developing extra-curricular programs, including choirs, concerts, and school musicals. He helps build thriving music departments, increasing student participation and managing peripatetic programs effectively.

 

Seann has coached as a Specialist Leader of Education in local music schools and provided training for Slough Music Service, as well as in-school training within and across departments.  He has also delivered bespoke and specialized training for teachers, including those on the ECT induction program.  His coaching is tailored to individual needs, ensuring teachers develop confidence and expertise across all areas of music education.
