The violin is the most versatile and most used of any instrument in the orchestra. It is the upper voice of the bowed string family and derives from Italy in around 1550 in its present form. It is shaped like a human and sounds like one, it plays all genres of music and is always in demand. The violin has many famous players from Sherlock Holmes to Albert Einstein and possibly the greatest player Jascha Heifetz.
