County Choir Auditions – Reading Music Centre
If you are in years 7-13 and love singing apply now to audition for one of Berkshire’s top county choirs!
We are hosting free workshop-style auditions at Reading Music Centre from 5.00-5.45pm on Wednesday 7 January 2026.
What are Berkshire Youth Choirs?
We have two county-level choirs: Berkshire Youth Training Choir for those in years 7-9 and Berkshire Youth Choir for those in years 10-13. Both choirs perform at prestigious events and singers have opportunities to really take their singing to the challenging level that representing their county would entail.
We support all styles of learning; encouraging the singers to practice their aural skills, listening skills and notation reading skills. We encourage students to become all rounded musicians, who can perform at the highest level. All of this is alongside vocal and choral technical skills.
What will the Workshop involve?
The workshop will be a mixture of listening skills, reading skills and ensemble work.
Do I need to prepare anything?
No.
What are the costs?
For the Workshop, there is no cost. If you are successful in obtaining a place in one of the county choirs, there is a termly fee. Fee support is available to Pupil Premium students and to Income Support, so do apply for this when you sign up, should you be eligible.
What is the Commitment?
If you are successful in obtaining a place in the Berkshire Youth Choirs, there are fortnightly rehearsals on Wednesday evenings at the Reading Music Centre, RG30 4EZ. If you are in years 10-13, there is an additional weekend rehearsal once a term. All dates will be shared with you before you commit.
